When your child comes home with a levelled text, please listen to your child read his/her book once even twice during the week. Make sure to have your child keep the book in his/her mail bag and returned to school everyday, as we re-read and discuss different aspects of the book throughout the week.
Spelling words will be sent home on Mondays. Practicing these words at home will help your child memorize these frequently used words. During the week, I usually ask your child to spell the words 3 times, write a sentence for each word and write the words in alphabetical order. There will be a spelling test on Fridays.
Each month, your child will be bringing home a calendar filled with simple activities. Your child should complete an activity from the homework calendar on the days there is not any homework assigned from class. Your child will initially need your help organzing his/her notebook.
